13 Wisconsin insurers show interest in individual market under ACA

As you already know, 13 health insurance companies in Wisconsin requested to be certified as a qualified health plan in the individual market. Meanwhile, nine companies filed plans to participate in the Small Business Health Option Program Exchange.

These companies must still complete a federal review process and sign a contract to participate on the exchange.

DHS sets training webinars in August

The Department of Health Services (DHS) will hold Medicaid policy overview and training webinars for providers and partners beginning this month. The first webinar is scheduled August 12, 10am-noon. Additional information, including how to participate in the webinar,

WHA continues to be engaged with policymakers including the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the state Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OCI) and DHS. Representatives from each will be participating in the August 14 WHA webinar and elaborating on their respective roles in enrollment assistance.

Wisconsin health centers to receive about $1.8 million for enrollment assistance

Health and Human Services will provide $1,770,786 in grants to 16 Wisconsin health centers to enroll uninsured patients in the Affordable Care Act’s new health care options. According to a statement released last month, 25% of the patients the centers served were uninsured last year. The money will allow the centers to hire 40 additional workers who will assist more than 26,000 Wisconsinites with enrollment.

Wisconsin hospitals lead in EMR adoption

Wisconsin leads the country with EHR adoption of more than 70 percent, according to the infographic. Initiatives by its department of health such as Wisconsin Relay of Electronic Data or WIRED for Health have helped boost the number of office-based physicians using EHR systems. It also boasts one of the highest e-prescribing rates in the US.
